Caipirinha Light

by Dannii on June 7, 2012

This is the start of a new feature on the website. Every Thursday I will upload a new drink recipe. Some weeks it will be a smoothie, some weeks it will be a mock-tail and some weeks, like this week, it will be an alcoholic drink.

I do still drink alcohol, although a lot less than I used to in my student days and I think it can be enjoyed in moderation even if you are trying to lose weight. When I do drink, I try and make the best choices and if I am making cocktails at home, then I will try and make them as “light” as possible. But some regular cocktails will feature on here too.

Whenever I am abroad, a Caipirinha is my drink of choice. There is something refreshing and tropical about it.

Serves 2

Ingredients:

- 2 small limes

- 50ml Bacardi

- 100ml soda water

- 1 tsp honey

1) Squeeze the limes into a cocktail shaker and add the rest of the ingredients along with some crushed ice. Shake and separate into 2 glasses. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, just put ingredients into glasses over ice.

2) Serve with a wedge of lime.
