It is that time of the week again where I share with you some of my favourite things from the week. This week has actually been a really good week for me, as I am 100% back on track with my eating and workouts and I am definitely seeing results from it. If you put in the hard work – you will see the results. That is what is keeping me motivated. 6 weeks until I turn 30 and I will see in that birthday feeling AWESOME. Also, I am in Cosmo Body magazine this morning. More on that below…

I did this workout 2 days ago and I am still feeling it. It is a little bit easier to stand up and sit down now, but still painful. Damn you squats! All the squatting will pay off in the end though. Is you are looking for an at home, no equipment, workout, then give this one a try. No less reps and/or modify that moves if you need to.
This was how my cat chose to sleep on me yesterday. After a busy 5 hours outside, he came in and laid straight on me, rolled over into this position and fell straight to sleep. He was there for a good 15 minutes until my arm got cramp and I had to move. I know – I’m mean. Anyone else have cats? They lay in such weird positions.
Favourite Treat Snack:
I am loving 9bars at the moment. I discovered them in Asda a couple of years ago and they were a favourite of mine then, but I recently got some 9bar breakfast bars sent to me and I am loving the different flavours. Personally I wouldn’t eat these for breakfast, because of the sugar (although it is raw cane sugar), but as a treat snack they are delicious. My current favourite is the almond and raspberry bar and it is packed full of seeds and nuts to give me an afternoon pick me up. They are also gluten and wheat free.
Favourite Proud Moment:
Starting this blog was not only a way to keep myself on track, but to also share my journey with other people that were losing weight/getting healthy and maybe struggling. I am so lucky that this blog has meant that I am able to share my story with so many people outside of the blog from being featured on various other websites like Huffington Post, as well as in magazines and newspapers. Today I received this month’s copy of Cosmopolitan Body which features me (and mentions the blog too) and talks about how I felt on my wedding day after losing weight and how I feel now.
I never lost weight for my wedding, it was because of health issues, but it just so happened that I did reach my goal weight (what I considered my goal then) a few months before my wedding. Although I felt beautiful on my wedding day, looking back I felt too thin. I purposely gained some weight after that and got to a point where I felt much more comfortable. I have since then gained a few more pounds that I am not comfortable with and I am working on getting those off. Weight loss is not an exact science and it is definitely a learning curve. I am so happy that they put in my quote of loving your body for everything it can do, not just how it looks, as that is truly how I view my body now. Pretty awesome to be in Cosmo though 🙂
I love this quote, because it can apply to so many areas of life. I used to base my self worth on how other people saw me, or how much I was liked. But you can never please everyone, so you just have to do what is right for you and be proud of who you are. What someone else thinks of you says more about them than it does about you – always remember that!
I am a new fan of the Honestly Healthy books and blog, but I am not sure how I have missed them as they are hugely popular and it is easy to see why. It is focused around an alkaline way of eating and although that is not a diet that I follow, the recipes in this book are for almost everyone. If you are looking for some new vegetarian/vegan recipes then this is the place to look. I made the banana nut muffins in the book and they were delicious. It is perhaps not a book for someone that is new to clean eating, due to some ingredients that a beginner would not be familiar with. However, saying that, there are also some delicious beginner friendly recipes in there.
Some of the recipes are actually similar to ones you will see in the Hungry Healthy Happy recipe section. That’s the thing with clean eating, there are only so many recipes out there before you just start seeing different versions of the same thing. But that’s not a bad thing, as it is always good to see different takes on a recipe, especially when they fit in to different ways of eating, like the alkaline way of eating in this book.
The photography is beautiful.
