I love parties. I love going to them and I love hosting them. Apart from spending time with my friends, I love party foods. Everything is in little bite-sized pieces, which means you can have a little bit of everything without going over the top. Whilst that means you can treat yourself to some higher calorie items, because you can have just a little bit, that is sometimes easier said than done. If you are trying to watch your weight, party food can sometimes be a bit of a minefield.
If you are hosting the party yourself, you have control over the food you are serving, so you can adapt everything to make it healthier. If you are going to a party somewhere, be a good guest and take a dish to add to the selection. That way, again, you can make it a healthy dish and just stick to that if everything else there does not fit in with your plan.
I hosted a party at mine yesterday and decided to try and make all the food as healthy as possible, or as healthy versions of those foods (like the pizza) as I possibly could. The food was a hit and people didn’t even realise the food was healthy alternatives.
This is what I made (They are all clickable links that take you to the recipes):
What better excuse is there to have a party than to try all these dishes out on your friends. This is what our food looked like:
