There is nothing worse than a ex-smoker right? Whilst that might be true, there is no judgement here. Just support, information and a little inspiration on how much better I feel now.
As I am sure you are aware, National No Smoking Day was a couple of days ago. I think it is awesome that there is lots of support and campaigns to help people quit smoking, but I kind of feel the same way about No Smoking Day as I do about Valentine’s Day. Whilst I fully support it, I will partake in the day and enjoy it, you don’t need one day a year to show someone you love them. You also don’t need one day a year to decide to quit smoking. Every day is a good day to quit.
Stopping smoking was one of the best things I have done for my health. I can breathe better and I can workout harder, which made it that much easier to meet my weight loss and fitness goals. Some people may read this and say it is just not that easy to quit smoking and they are right. It isn’t easy. But like most things in life that are going to improve your health, they are not easy, but so worth it.
I personally just quit cold turkey, but that isn’t for everyone. There are many different options out there and the internet is full of stop smoking tips.
I don’t need to tell you how smoking is damaging your health. If you are a smoker I am sure you are well aware of it. Listening to your body is one of the most important things you can do.
What method of quitting helped you?

My father died of cancer and the day he was diagnosed I gave up. Thank you for writing about this.
I know some people think it is all fake, but I was hypnotised and it helped me to give up. I tried so many times before and nothing worked.
I started smoking when I was 14, but I quit before I went to college. I agree that it is the best thing I have done. I feel really healthy now and the stairs are a breeze.
I love that you compared it to V-Day haha
You are an inspiration in so many ways. You really have changed your life in regards to your health.
I hope you had a great holiday – but I am glad you are back and blogging again
I have cut back to about 10 a day, but I really struggle with giving up completely. I so wish I could, for my kids as much as myself.
I went cold turkey as well. I have had a couple of slip-ups since then, but apart from that I have not smoked in 2 year. I feel so much better too.
