Chocolate and coffee is a dessert match made in heaven. We have combined the flavours of both in this super creamy Avocado Mocha Mousse, that you will wow dinner guests with. No-one will be able to tell it is made with avocado.
Avocado has such a creamy texture, so it lends itself to desserts really well. But, whenever you tell someone that, they turn their noses up at it and they aren’t convinced. I don’t know why though. Just because avocado has been made popular through dishes like Guacamole, doesn’t mean that their aren’t a thousand other delicious ways to use it.

It is a fruit after all, and we all know that fruit and desserts get a big thumbs up. Blended up until smooth with a few other key ingredients, avocado also makes a great cake frosting. Even this recipe itself can be used as a cake frosting, but we love it in a bowl with a few pistachios sprinkled on top. It usually gets made at every dinner party we have, mainly because it’s a great conversation piece when you tell people how it gets its creaminess.
If you’re looking at this like we are crazy, screaming at your screen “how can avocado be in a dessert?????”, then you are just going to have to trust us on it and give it a try. Due to the other ingredients, you honestly can’t taste avocado. Not that avocado even tastes of anything, as it is more of a texture than a taste. Don’t worry about going to all that effort just for it to taste strange, because it really doesn’t. Blended up with the cocoa and all the other ingredients has the texture of a creamy mousse and you will want to make it over and over again.
You can really go crazy with the toppings on this, and you know that we are all about the toppings in our house (you only have to look at our photos on social media from pancake day). We sprinkled some pistachios and raspberries on top, but if you are having a dinner party, you could let everyone add their own from a little topping buffet.
I actually don’t see any problem with having this Avocado Mocha Mousse for breakfast either. I mean, it’s packed full of heathy fats and that’s a great way to start the day. Usually we are all about avocado on toast for breakfast (I know, such hipsters), but I think this could be a new avocado breakfast alternative. What do you think?
