This Easy Homemade Peanut Butter just needs 1 ingredient (with options for a couple of add-ins) and only takes a few minutes to make. It's so simple to make, you will wonder why you have been buying it in a jar for so long. It is super creamy, and has so many uses. It's definitely a kitchen staple.

We always have some peanut butter in our kitchen. For a quick snack on banana, apple or toast, to add to a smoothie, or to make an epic PB&J sandwich. This all-natural peanut butter has no hidden added ingredients, but you can add some flavourings to mix it up a bit.
This is such an easy recipe to make - you just need peanuts and a high powdered food processor. You have to trust that this will come together, as there will be a time that you doubt it will. At first the peanuts will go a crumbly mixture, but after scraping it down and letting the food processor do its thing, it will come together.

Why should you try it?
- Just 1 ingredient
- Homemade comfort food
- Only takes a few minutes to make
- Lots of ways to use it
- Can make different flavours
Step by step
One: Put the peanuts in to a high powdered food processor and turn it on.

Two: You will need to keep stopping it to scrape the sides down, and starting it again.

Three: After a few minutes it will start to turn in to a butter. Blend until it is the desired consistency. About 4-5 minutes gives the perfect texture I think.

What peanuts to use
We used raw, unsalted peanuts to make ours. However if you like a salty peanut butter, then you could use salted peanuts, or just add a pinch of salt.
You can use this method of making nut butter to any nuts or seeds, or even a mixture of nut and seeds. We make pecan, cashew, almond and pistachio butter this way, as well as sunflower seed butter.

Smooth or chunky?
This is totally a preference thing, but for me it has to be smooth peanut butter and that is what this recipe is for. If you like chunky peanut butter, then still follow this recipe and at the end stir in some finely chopped peanuts to give it that crunch.
What flavours to add
If you like a little sweetness in your homemade peanut butter, then a tablespoon of honey adds a nice sweet touch. You could use maple syrup if you wanted it to be vegan too. We also like adding a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavour.
If you want to make a chocolate peanut butter mix, then add a couple of tablespoons of cocoa powder at the end and blend a little.

How to use homemade peanut butter
There is so much more that you can do with homemade peanut butter than make cookies and sandwiches. Not to mention just eating it out of the jar with a spoon!
It's a great way to give a smoothie a protein boost, or spread on banana and apple slices for a healthy snack. You can also use it to make a Satay sauce to cover noodles or chicken.

FAQs
Although most store bought peanut butters would be stored in a kitchen cupboard, this is a totally natural homemade peanut butter with no additives or preservatives, so it can spoil.
It is best to keep it in an air tight container and then in the fridge. It will keep for about 3-4 weeks. This will make it quite hard and more difficult to spread, but you can just pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to soften it up.
Extra tips
- If you are really struggling to get your peanut butter to come together, then a little bit of oil can help with this. Vegetable or peanut oil is best for this.
- Store the peanut butter in an air tight container in the fridge.
- If you want chunky peanut butter, stir in some finely chopped peanuts.
- If you want an even richer flavour peanut butter, then toast the peanuts in a pan first, as this will release some of the oil.
- You can flavour this peanut butter with honey, cinnamon or cocoa powder.
