For those of you who are in the UK, you will know who the News Of The World are. For those of you who are not, you may know about the paper due to the hacking scandal that went on with our newspapers over here. If you don't know, it was a Sunday newspaper and was at one time the biggest selling English language newspaper in the world, and at closure (due to the hacking scandal) still had one of the highest English language circulations.
Well, the week before the paper published for the last time, I was featured in it. The newspaper sold 3.4 millions copies and my feature was the first non-celebrity related feature in that issue. I was on page 13, after the usual "who was dumped by who/who flashed their underwear coming out of a club" stories. Pretty impressive that many people read about my weight loss. This was in June, and I had only recently started Hungry Healthy Happy, so it wasn't mentioned, but if my story inspired just one person to become healthier, then that is great.
In true sensationalised tabloid style, a lot of it was embellished and they seemed obsessed with the whole burger thing. It just so happened that one of my "fat pictures" was me sitting next to a giant plate of fake burgers at an amusement park. They put the picture in the story and made out that the burgers were real and that I was some kind of burger obsessive. I mean, I liked them, but they were not the food I binged on. But, I guess it made for a good story.
Also, my Husband and I can say we have our wedding photos in a national paper :)
