Mexican Burger

Everyone loves a good burger - but this Mexican Burger a GREAT burger! All of your favourite Mexican flavours in a healthy burger.

Ingredients

  • 2 sesame seed buns
  • 250 g lean beef mince
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion power
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • 2 tsp chipotle flakes
  • 10 g fresh coriander (cilantro)
  • 70 g lettuce
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 2 tbsp guacamole
  • 20 g mature cheddar
  • 2 tbsp burger relish
  • 0.5 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the mince and seasoning.
  • Form into 2 burger patties and put in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Heat the oil in a griddle pan (or normal frying pan) over a medium heat and cook the burgers for 10 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Top the burgers with cheese and either cover with a cloche/lid or put the burgers under a grill (broiler) for 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
  • Cut the buns open and build the burger with lettuce, tomato, burger and cheese, guacamole and relish/sauce.

Notes

  • Serve with nachos and some Mexican spiced coleslaw.
  • Put the burgers in the fridge for about 30 minutes before cooking, as this will help them to stay together.
  • We added a habanero chutney for the sauce, but you can use your favourite burger sauce instead.
  • Make a low carb version of this by using a giant lettuce leaf instead of a bread bun.
