This is never going to be the healthiest thing in the world, but some small changes make it a healthier alternative to the usual banana bread you could make/buy and as a treat, it is great. This is perfect for a Sunday afternoon with some tea.
Ingredients:
- 200g whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp bicarbonate soda
- 70g caster sugar
- 2 and a half mashed bananas
- 30g butter
- 20g low fat yogurt
- 1 egg
- Splash of milk
- Handful of carob/chocolate chips
- 1tsp of a spice you like, such as ginger or cinnamon.
1) Put the flour, baking soda, bicarbonate soda and spice (if using) in a bowl.

2) Rub in the butter

3) Add the sugar and stir

4) Add the mashed banana and yogurt

5) Beat in the egg and milk and chocolate/carob chips if using and stir well.

6) Grease a loaf tin and pour in the mixture.

7) Bake at 190C/Gas Mark 5 for 50 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean. Serve
